SafeguardingRecruitment of Volunteers, office holders and staff

Safeguarding policy includes the appointment and recruitment in the church of volunteers and employees and those who are ordained. It is part of the prevention of child abuse and promotion of children's welfare to appoint only those who are suitable to work with them.

All those who work in posts with responsibility for children, young people and vulnerable adults need to be properly recruited and appointed by the relevant Church Council or other church body. All posts where there is regular face-to-face contact with or responsibility for children and young people require a criminal record disclosure. Other posts may require checks if there is limited regular contact with children or young people. All other posts do not require A Disclosure and it may be illegal to request one.

In order to protect children and young people we require everyone who holds an office, post or responsibility in the church to complete a self-disclosure, upon appointment.
