The Methodist Worship Book was first published in 1999. Before publication, more than 160,000 copies of the Worship Book were ordered by churches and other groups around Britain.
A resource for the whole Church
The Methodist Worship Book (MWB) is an important publication for the Methodist Church. This book, containing over 600 pages of material for worship, was authorised by the Methodist Conference in 1998. It was eight years in the making. Between 1992 and 1997 many thousands of Methodists around Britain and in other countries used the draft services which had been prepared by the Faith and Order Committee and over 1000 of them sent in their comments.
Among its pages, MWB features nine services of Holy Communion, four funeral services, an order of blessing for a home, and many more acts of worship. It also includes a calendar, collects and a lectionary - giving it elements in common with official Anglican and Catholic liturgical books.
