Music
The Connexional Music Team
The Connexional Music Team consists of two advisers appointed by the Connexion to help develop the musical life of Methodist churches
We are part of Creative Arts in Methodism and work with other agencies including: Wesley College, Bristol and the Local Preachers' Office.
We seek to be available to churches, circuits or other groupings to help explore and develop the use of music in worship, mission and spiritual direction.
We are willing to visit individually or together to help churches address issues they may have concerning music.
We aim to work with people to help share skills and ideas.
If you have issues, a need for development or simply have something to celebrate and share, please do not hesitate to get in touch.
Who we are:
Michael Davies is organist at St Michael’s Parish Church in Madeley, Telford. He has worked in a range of secondary schools as head of music and presently works for the church developing music and ways of reaching the unchurched.
He is particularly interested in music in worship, the role of the church musician and using music to convey the contemporary relevance of the Christian message.
Ian Howarth is a minister in the Dorking and Horsham Circuit. Before training for the ministry he graduated in music and taught in secondary schools. At the moment he acts as Conference Precentor.
His particular expertise is in the area of singing: congregational, choral and solo.
He is also interested in world music and the role of music in developing our spirituality and theology, within and beyond worship.
