Helen Moorehead

wcr-HelenMoorehead-profileHelen Moorehead served in Kenya's Tharaka District. This area has a very high incidence of deafness amongst children, and Helen set up a deaf school for children aged 6 to 13.

wcr-HelenMoorehead-1Tharaka is a very traditional area where deafness is seen as a bad omen, and deaf children are usually either hidden away or sent out to take goats grazing. Thanks to Helen's school, these children now have other options open to them.

wcr-HelenMoorehead-2"My biggest hope is that the children will come to know and love Christ. Practically, I need more classrooms for the children who are waiting to come. I would like a kitchen and dining room so that we don't have to eat outside in the rain. I would like a vocational training centre! There are many, many things!"
