wcr-MethodistLiasonOffice-pilgrimageOffering responsible pilgrimage

The Methodist Liaison Office can help arrange study tours for seminaries/clergy and include the usual holy sites visits with visits to partner organizations, both Palestinian and Israeli, working in conjunction with a local Christian travel agency. It also places Individual Volunteers in Mission who come for two weeks to one year based on their skills and the local needs. They also coordinate with their partners on tourism packages. All the pilgrimage tours suggested have an advocacy component with suggestions on how to stay involved upon return.

EAPPIEAPPI: Providing opportunities for local volunteer placements

The Office is currently looking at options to outsource some IT work, in particular, building and maintaining a website. They are looking for volunteers (or someone who is willing to work for a stipend) to assist them. The Office also works in partnership with the EAPPI. The Revd John Howard, Chair of the Wolverhampton and Shrewsbury District and Dr Jenny Bywaters, a Local Preacherin the Ecclesall Circuit in Sheffield, have both participated in the programme.

Resourcing the wider worldwide Methodist Church family

The Office acts as a resource for the worldwide Methodist church family on the issues of Israel and Palestine. It liaises with interested parties and partner organizations and provides information, website lists, book lists, contacts, advocacy initiatives, action alerts and more. It also provides theological resources and reflections (see Facebook page 'Mission Liaison' for current Lenten devotions posted there.).
