April 2014 World Church Bulletin

Dear friends in mission:

"So we have known and believe the love that God has for us.

God is love, and those who abide in love abide in God, and God abides in them."1 John 4:16

"I do read the bulletin!" This is what someone recently said to me, and I have to say, it did warm my heart! Although I know that there are lovely people somewhere "out there" reading the bulletin, sometimes, as I cannot see them, and I most often do not hear from them, it can be easy to doubt this truth!

Similarly, the Bible tells us "we have known and believe the love that God has for us". Do we really? Or do we like me with the bulletin, "know" that there is a God somewhere "out there" who loves us, but yet, are surprised when we come across proof of it? Truly knowing and believing the love that God has for us gives us the freedom to boldly step out in that love. This is what the United Mission in Nepal has been doing for the last sixty years. It is what motivates Methodist Churches in Managua to feed hundreds of children who would otherwise go without. It is by boldly stepping out in love that Ginka was able to forgive those who had hurt her, and what allows her to continue having faith in the midst of difficult situations.

Abiding in love can be challenging; it can be uncomfortable; and it may involve getting your feet wet. "But God is love, and those who abide in love abide in God, and God abides in them". So go on, Get your feet wet!

With all our love,

The World Church Relationships Team
