Evangelisch-methodistische Kirche: Munich Shooting

Bishop Rosemarie Wenner, of the Evangelisch-methodistische Kirche, comments following the tragic shooting in Munich on Friday 22 July 2016.

Evangelisch-methodistische Kirche has a diverse congregation very close to the Munich shopping centre where the shooting happened.

The Wesley Scout group were meeting there at the time and had to stay inside the building which then became a place of hospitality for others in the neighbourhood offering shelter and refreshment while the authorities organised their safe return home.

Bishop Rosemarie Wenner commented following the tragedy: "The victims, their families and the people of Munich are in our thoughts and prayers. We live in challenging times with all kinds of threats. Faced with violence and terror, our prayers and our witness for reconciliation are in demand."

The Evangelisch-methodistische Kirche has two articles on the local experience during and immediately following the massacre

Munich: UMC in security (translated from German to English using Google Translate)

"A holy peace spread" (translated from German to English using Google Translate)
