One year on....still praying for the missing 219 girls abducted by Boko Haram in Northern Nigeria!

What a tragedy -to be sitting in an examination room one morning and later kidnapped by Boko Haram terrorists for no just cause? What a scary ordeal still experienced by two hundred and nineteen girls from Chibok since 14 April 2014. Are the girls still hopeful or have they resigned their future to fate? May I urge you to please pray for these missing girls embroiled in the worst abduction in recent history? Harmless unguarded girls still separated from their loved ones and unsure of the future that awaits them.... who shall come to their rescue?

We are grateful for possible recent sightings of few of the girls in Gwoza and Bita in Northern Nigeria as reported on the BBC news on 13 April 2015. We are also thankful for those that managed to escape and lived to tell their stories. Nevertheless we are mindful of those that might have been wounded, molested or killed since the abduction. We also remember and mourn for parents and guardians of the missing girls killed by Boko Haram when attempting to rescue the girls. We acknowledge displaced families, disrupted livelihood and ghost towns left behind as a result of Boko Haram atrocities.

Bible text - Habakkuk 2-4 (amp)

O Lord, how long shall I cry that You will not hear, or cry out to You of violence and you will not save? Why do you show me iniquity and wrong, and Yourself look upon me to see perverseness and trouble? For destruction and violence are before me; and there is strife, and contention arises. Therefore the law is slackened and justice and a righteous sentence never go forth, for the (hostility of the) wicked surrounds the (uncompromisingly) righteous; therefore justice goes perverted. Look around (you, Habakkuk, replied the Lord) among the nations and see! And be astonished! Astounded! For I am putting into effect a work in your days (such) that you would not believe it if you were told you…..

O Lord, malicious and unrighteous witnesses rise up; they ask of me things that I know not. But this I know, that You deliver the poor and the afflicted; from him who is too strong for him and rescue lives from destructions. Let them be put to shame and confusion that plan evil, rejoice in calamity and devise deceitful matters against the innocent. Judge and vindicate O Lord my God according to your righteousness. Lord be not far from the missing Chibok girls wherever they are. Let them be reassured of your presence and comforted by Your love. O God please protect and console their friends, relatives, the Chibok community members and the whole region affected by Boko Haram terrorism . Grant wisdom to the newly elected Nigerian government to tackle this scourge urgently. Let the Lord arise and the enemies of peace be scattered that the whole world might know that God still rules in the affairs of men! May we continually intercede for the girls' release and we shall take time to glorify you when this is realised; in Jesus name we pray, Amen.

Thank you
