Pray for the Conference of the Methodist Church in Fiji

Please pray for the Conference of the Methodist Church in Fiji which is about to begin. The interim, military government has given permission for the Conference to go ahead, but limited it to 4 days and only 10 hours per day.

There is a strong theme of reconciliation, both within the membership of the Church and also between the government and the Church. Reverend Dr Tuwere, a former President, speaking at the new President's induction, said, 'Members should listen to each other and work for a common goal for the betterment of the church and the nation.'

At the same time Revd Akuila Yabaki, a previous Asia Pacific Secretary in the Methodist Church in Britain, has just been given a suspended prison sentence for contempt of court in a move widely interpreted as unwarranted and intimidatory.
