Prayer for Religious Tolerance and Human Rights for Women in Sudan

Prayer for religious tolerance and better human right for Sudanese women

Psalm 88 verses 1-4; 9 - 12

1O Lord, God of my salvation,

I have cried out day and night before You.

Let my prayer come before You;

Incline Your ear to my cry.

For my soul is full of troubles,

And my life draws near to the grave.

I am counted with those who go down to the pit;

I am like a manwho has no strength ....

9My eye wastes away because of affliction

Lord, I have
called daily upon You;

I have stretched out my hands to You.

10  Will You work wonders for the dead?

Shall the dead arise and praise You? Selah

11  Shall Your lovingkindness be declared in the grave?

Or Your faithfulness in the place of destruction?

12  Shall Your wonders be known in the dark?

And Your righteousness in the land of forgetfulness?

Dear Lord

We pray that you continue to strengthen and support Mrs Meriam Ibrahim, a twenty seven year old pregnant Christian doctor as she upholds her faith in Christ in the face of persecution. She has been sentenced to hang for apostasy by a court in Khartoum - Sudan because she refused to recant her faith and return to Islam.

The judge ruled that she should be given 100 lashes for adultery on the grounds that as a former Muslim she is now married to a Christian man from South Sudan. O Lord incline your ear to our prayers, touch the heart of the judge to revert the verdict. Preserve her life and the life of her unborn child. Reassure her of your love and be with her as she struggles
with her pregnancy plus the care for her 18 month old son whilst being reprimanded in prison. Be with her husband, relatives and well wishers during this as we look onto you for your divine intervention.

Righteous Lord, have mercy and turn this situation around for good. May this be the start of advancing the human rights of Sudanese women and defend the sanctity of marriage irrespective of religion.

In Jesus name we pray. Amen
