Prayers for the Methodist Church Sri Lanka Conference

In your prayers for Sri Lanka today (Day 19 in the Prayer Handbook), please remember the Methodist Church whose Conference begins this week. Its President writes, 'Next week the lay and ministerial members of the Annual Methodist conference will gather at the Methodist College auditorium for the 50th Conference of autonomous Methodist Church in Sri Lanka.

The laity and ministers of the Annual Conference worship God together, learn together, renew friendships, and project directions for our future symbolise the work we are called to do as an annual conference. The main work and principle actions taken by the annual conference impact the future of our ministry and our witness in this country.

All of you can make it possible for us to begin to imagine what God can do through the faithful people and churches in Sri Lanka. Mission begins in prayer. Mission is renewed and sustained by prayer. Apart from prayer, the mission of the church is lost and the church declines. I invite all of you to pray for the Annual Methodist Conference 2013 (22-27 August). Through prayer, we are changed to be able to see with God's eyes and discover anew God's vision for our country. God graciously transforms us to become and to do all that God intends for us to be and to do, including becoming instruments of healing and hope in Sri Lanka.'
