Methodist Church welcomes crackdown on sex trafficking

The Methodist Church has welcomed Pentameter 2, a government initiative to tackle the growing problem of sex trafficking. UK police forces aim to rescue women and children who have been forced to work in the sex industry and to prosecute those who profit from human trafficking.

Margaret Sawyer, Secretary for the Women's Network of the Methodist Church, says; 'We're delighted to welcome the long-awaited Pentameter 2 initiative to further track and arrest the perpetrators of trafficking and more importantly to release innocent victims of this most abhorrent crime. However, we would urge the Home Office urgently and thoroughly to resource the provision of proper safe houses and care networks in order adequately to meet the needs of those who will be released.'
