Response to the murder of Alan Henning

The President of the Methodist Conference, the Revd Kenneth G Howcroft said: "We are overcome with sorrow at the brutal murder of Alan Henning. No religious, political or ideological cause justifies such acts. He was an ordinary man who extraordinarily sought to help fellow human beings. We thank God for him and commend him to God."

The Vice-President, Ms Gill Dascombe, added: "We pray for his family and friends, and for the Muslim communities for whose expressions of horror and support we are all very grateful. Together we must work and pray to oppose evil and create peace."
