Joint Declaration on the Doctrine of Justification

An agreement between the Lutheran and Roman Catholic Churches which settled one of the historic disagreement at the centre of the Reformation was the focus of a special service at Westminster Abbey on 31 October 2017.

The Joint Declaration on the Doctrine of Justification was signed by the Lutheran World Federation and the Roman Catholic Church on 31 October 1999. On 31 October 2017, the Archbishop of Canterbury presented the text of the Anglican Communion's resolution that welcomed and affirmed the substance of the Declaration.
