Shaper Groups and Consultation

Shaper Groups

We need workers/leaders and their groups to be involved in our 3Generate Shaper Groups to help hear the voice, and encourage greater involvement, of children and young people in the planning and delivery of the 3Generate event each year. We need Shaper Groups to help shape the four age streams: 8-11s, 11-14s, 14-18s and 18-23s.

Shaper Groups are facilitated by workers/leaders (or sometimes peer-led in the case of 18 - 23 year olds) with children and young people in their local setting. Workers/leaders will consult with their group (or individuals) on the content of the programme for 3Generate - and, as a group, they may get involved in shaping one particular area/session/aspect of the event. This may involve them shaping it for someone else to deliver in the end, or being involved in the delivery themselves. We also need 18-23 year olds interested in helping to shape the 18-23 stream.

If you are interested in being a 3Gen Shaper Group then email 3Generate@methodistchurch.org.uk and we will send you further details.

Consultation

If you can't be involved as a Shaper Group please hold a consultation with your group and tell us what the children and young people said was important to be discussed at the next 3Generate. There are a number of resources to help you with this. The Big SleepOver provides you with resources for hearing the voice of children and young people at a residential sleepover event. If you don't have that much time then take a look at the Big Session, which is a ready-made session plan, allowing young people to be consulted in approximately a one hour session.

For individual young people who do not have a group or a leader with whom they can explore possible themes for 3Generate, there is a simple online form that you can fill in - making sure your voice is heard as we plan the next Methodist children's and youth assembly. Click here to complete this form.

We look forward to hearing from you or your group.
