Barbara Dickinson was based in Kenya until 2015. She had been a mission partner since 1980, working in various capacities in the School of Nursing at the Maua Methodist Hospital, and as the deputy principal tutor there. Barbara's hope for the coming year was that she was able to develop a new structure in the School of Nursing, and to mentor the tutors in their new responsibilities.
Our greatest challenge is staff retention. We have recruited many BScN (Bachelor of Science in Nursing) staff to be teachers over the years; they stay about 2 years a & then move off. It's hard to give continuity of teaching and care to students doing a course lasting three and a half years when the staff turnover is so high..Barbara Dickinson
