Creative Spirit

Creative Spirit DVD

A DVD resource based on The Methodist Modern Art Collection

"A very imaginative, creative and fruitful resource." Artserve

"It worked very well, with a group who are not particularly clued up about art." House group leader

This simple to use, interactive DVD with study guide is a rich resource for group and individual exploration, based on works of art depicting the Christian story. It is designed to encourage people to respond imaginatively and creatively to the Bible, from a non-didactic approach.

Watch this short clip to get an idea of how it works.

Creative Spirit consists of eight study sessions on DVD (also on CD in Powerpoint format), each one focusing on a work from the Collection. The discs can be used on computers, TVs, or for projection on a large screen. Questions for exploring the paintings are accompanied by specially written prayers to help deepen discipleship. Both discs contain reproductions of 38 other works in the Collection. The package includes a 48-page study booklet with related bible readings and background information on the artists who range from George Rouault to Edward Burra.

Who is it for?

  • House groups (works very well for Lent bible study)
  • Local Preachers and leaders of worship
  • Retreat and Quiet Day leaders
  • School and youth groups 16+
  • Individuals wanting a fresh, art-based approach to personal devotion

Available priced £9.99 from Methodist Publishing .
