Deacon Sue Culver

Sue was born in the north-east of England, moving to live in Mansfield in her late teens. She worked in various administrative jobs until she 'retired' to start a family.

She has been a member the Methodist Diaconal Order (MDO) since 1993, serving in a variety of appointments which have included community development work, university chaplaincy, ecumenical mission enabling and theological education before taking up her appointment as Warden of the MDO.

Before training for ordained ministry, Sue was a volunteer co-ordinator for an HIV support group responsible for recruiting and training 'buddies' (people who befriend those who are HIV+). She was heavily involved in the field of HIV/AIDS awareness, working directly with HIV+ people as well as schools, colleges and the general public in HIV awareness training.

Sue is married to John and they have four children and one grandchild.
