Marjorie Dobson

Marjorie Dobson is a local preacher and a writer of hymns, prayers, poetry and short dramatic pieces for use in worship. She particularly enjoys writing character pieces - 'getting under the skin of the real person that hides in the shadows of a good story'.

Her work has been widely anthologised in books of worship resources and she has three books to her name, two of them co-authored with Andrew Pratt. Together they have written items for each of the 'continuous readings' of the three-year lectionary and are now providing service outlines and material for each Sunday for, a website - formerly known as Seed Resources - providing a wide variety of images and written resources for all who lead worship.

Born and bred in County Durham, she nows lives with her husband in Scarborough and has a study with a view of the castle and a glimpse of the sea - which is not too distracting as it disappears when she sits at her desk, well below the level of the dormer window.
