The Revd Neil Cockling

Neil Cockling (2016)

Neil spent 20 years as a circuit minister before becoming the District Development Enabler for the Newcastle upon Tyne Methodist District. He now works full-time for the NHS as a Consultant Lead Chaplain in mental health, leading a multi-faith team of 14 chaplains working in 10 hospitals in Northumberland and Tyne & Wear. He is also his Trust's 'Freedom to Speak Up Guardian', in which he ensures that staff members are able to raise concerns about the organisation or patient safety, are listened to, and do not suffer as a consequence of speaking up.

His doctoral thesis was on the role of the British Methodist superintendent minister.

Neil is married to Anne, an eye surgeon, and they have two sons, Daniel and Andrew, who have outgrown him - so that they can encourage his bald patch to grow by patting him on the head.
