Special Notice

Eight-day retreats for as little as £25!

Here at St Beuno's, we are offering a couple of retreats a year for those who find our usual suggested offerings too expensive.   For an eight-day retreat beginning June 6 and a six-day retreat from 26 June an individually guided retreat is being offered from just £25 deposit.   These retreats are being guided by those on our 10-week course, so we need a lot of retreatants and we also are very aware that many people, particularly the young, don't have sufficient money for our usual offerings, but would benefit from an Ignatian retreat.

This scheme was introduced last year, and proved successful.   We ask for a deposit of £25 in order that people feel committed; then if they can afford a little more we certainly won't refuse it.   Last year people were very responsible: many came to us at the end of the retreat and said that they had found the experience so worthwhile they wanted to give some more money, whilst others just didn't have any more to give.

So we'd be extremely grateful if you could publicise these retreats to anyone you think might benefit.  They are open to all.   The special rate is for those who don't have the money to pay the usual rates, particularly those between the ages of 18 and 30.

Leaflets are available to publicise the retreats: just contact me,
Fr David Birchall SJ, Director, St Beuno's, St Asaph, LL17 0AS.

Finding Earth, Finding Soul: The Invisible Path to Authentic Leadership

1 - 3 August 2008
Scargill House, Kettlewell, North Yorks

Tim Macartney is the founder and CEO of Embercombe, a social enterprise that seeks to inspire committed action towards a truly sustainable world. Over a period of twenty years he was mentored and coached by Native American metis ‘Medicine’ people to learn the Earth Wisdom teachings that once informed the practice of our own British indigenous culture.

This course intertwines several themes – the quest for meaning and purpose, organisation leadership, nature, conformity, and the role of ordinary women and men in seeking and securing a future that will serve our children well. It will be a journey of exploration into the heart of who you are, to enable you to get in touch with your true power as a potential leader in our collective journey towards sustainability.

The Point Of Return: Art and Spirituality Workshop

31 October - 2 November 2008
Scargill House, Kettlewell, North Yorks

A weekend of art-making and contemplation in the glorious Dales countryside. A hands-on practical weekend exploring creativity and its links with spirituality and personal/ecological transformation. No boundaries on the definition of 'arts' - it could include contributions in music, performance, outdoor sculpture.

"To meet the challenge of global warming, we need to change from being consumers to being artists...we are at the point of return from gross to subtle, from glamorous to gracious, from hedonism to healing, from quantities of possessions to quality of life. It’s cool to be an optimist!" Satish Kumar.
