The wide web of ecumenical relationships

In relating to Partner Churches via ecumenical structures, the Methodist Church operates through:

Churches Together in England (CTE), Action for Churches Together in Scotland (ACTS) and Churches Together in Wales (Cytun)

Churches Together in Britain and Ireland (CTBI)

The Conference of European Churches (CEC)

The World Council of Churches (WCC)

Worldwide International Methodist Conversations take place with:

  • The Roman Catholic Church
  • Lutheran World Federation
  • Anglican Communions
  • Reformed Churches
  • Salvation Army
  • Orthodox Churches
  • Pentecostal Churches

Any of these relationships may come to the district chair's attention either on a day-to-day basis or from time to time, especially in relation to twinning arrangements and ministerial appointments.

A helpful overview of Methodist ' Ecumenical Perspectives' can be found in the Council papers for March 2007, part B, paper D, on page 73.
