A Prayer for Kenya

A prayer for Kenya adapted from Psalm 86

Hear us, Lord, and answer us,
    for we are poor and needy.
Guard our lives, for we are faithful to you;
    save your servants who trusts in you.
You are our God; have mercy on us, Lord,
    for I call to you all day long.
Bring joy to your servants, Lord,
    for we put our trust in you.

14  Arrogant foes are attacking us, O God;
    ruthless people are trying to kill us-
    they have no regard for you.
15  But you, Lord, are a compassionate and gracious God,
    slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness.
16  Turn to us and have mercy on us;
    show your strength in behalf of your servants;
save us, because we serve you
    just as our parents did.
17  Give us a sign of your goodness,
    that our enemies may see it and be put to shame,
    for you, Lord, have helped us and comforted us.

11  Teach us your way, Lord,
    that we may rely on your faithfulness;
give us an undivided heart,
    that I may fear your name.

May God in His goodness and wisdom comfort those who mourn, guide the Kenya Security forces to protect those still captured by the Somali attackers. We pray for a quick end to the ongoing ordeal at West Gate Mall in Nairobi, Kenya and we remember all those affected by this despicable terrorist attack.

In Jesus name we pray!
