British Methodists elected to World Methodist offices

British Methodist headteacher Rev John Barrett, has beennewly-named as vice chairperson of the World Methodist Council. Heis pictured addressing council members during a meeting of the bodyin Brighton, England, yesterday.

John Barrett was educated at Newcastle and Cambridgeuniversities before being trained for the Methodist ministry atWesley House, Cambridge. He is currently headmaster of the LeysSchool in Cambridge, England.

Former British Methodist Conference vice president Rosemary Wasshas been elected as President of the World Federation of Methodistand Uniting Church Women. Rosemary (pictured left), who takes onthe post for the next five years, succeeds Rev Khushnud Azariahfrom Pakistan.

Janice Clark, a British Methodist working as a mission partnerin Zimbabwe becomes Secretary of the Federation.
