Joint statement with the Board of Deputies

Representatives of The Board of Deputies, and the MethodistChurch met today to continue conversations stretching back over anumber of years. They discussed issues around the Israel-Palestineconflict, including the 2013 Conference decision to seek opinionson the BDS movement.

The Board of Deputies' representatives expressed strong concernsabout the premise and the processes around this report. Theseconcerns were heard by Methodist Church colleagues.

The Board and the Church agreed to explore approaches, distinctfrom the BDSconsultation on which the Methodist Church is presentlyengaged, including investing in peace, dialogue and reconciliationprojects. The Board and the Church will work collaboratively inthis aim, alongside other interested parties.
