Methodist Children & Youth Assembly 2011: Book now
• £70, including food, accommodation and all activities.
The Annual Methodist Children & Youth Assembly, 3Generate, will
take place at the Pioneer Centre, Cleobury Mortimer, in Shropshire
4 - 6 November 2011.
3Generate enables the church to hear from children and young
people, and for children and young people to hear from each other,
have fun, find support, learn from one another and make a
contribution to the wider Church. Following consultation, this
year's event is going to be bigger and better than ever, with three
streams catering for a wider age range: 9 to 13 years olds, 14 to
17 years olds, and 18 to 23 years olds.
"3Generate is more than an event," said Jude Levermore, Acting
Director of Children and Youth. "By facilitating three different
age streams, we can ensure that we really focus on what matters to
our children and young people. They will have the opportunity to
influence Church decisions, as well as decide who gets to represent
them nationally. And we're going to have a lot of fun too!"
Programme highlights include singer-songwriter and Director of the
Christian Socialist Movement Andy Flannagan and Lat Blaylock, a
writer and educator with a passion for making RE come alive. Also
on the bill is Jamie Hill. After touring with bands like Why? and
Quench, Jamie is now the Youth and Student Manager at the Bible
Society, enthusing young people with a big vision of what the Bible
can be.
There'll also be cutting edge music from MOBO award-winning gospel
rapper Guvna B; one of the leading lights of the next generation of
UK gospel rappers, Tunday; and the unique Leke, with a heart for
worship.
Additionally, those bringing young people in the 9 to 13 age-range
can be part of a weekend of training, reflection and inspiration
designed to equip and inspire them in their work.
As well as fun, making friendship, worship and learning, the young
people attending will get to vote for their new full-time Youth
President and have their say on future decisions to be made in the
Methodist Church. Those over the age of 18 will get the opportunity
to develop their leadership skills.
Everyone will also get to use the adventure area, complete with
climbing towers, bouldering walls, high ropes, indoor archery,
raft-building, bridge-building and much more.
