New name for Methodist Retreat Group
The Methodist Retreat Group is to change its name to theMethodist Retreat and Spirituality Network (MRSN), the group'sAnnual General Meeting, held at Erdington Methodist Church,Birmingham, has decided.
The Chair of MRSN, Yvonne Walker, says of the change: "It moreaccurately reflects the wide range of activities in the area ofspirituality with which our members are already involved. Theseinclude quiet days, weeks of accompanied prayer and spiritualdirection. Adding the word 'spirituality' builds on the retreatwork for which we are well known."
The AGM heard from its president, the Rev Dr John Newton, wholed a time of quiet reflection on the theme of 'contemplativeprayer in the Methodist tradition', based on the hymn 'Open Lord myinward ear'.
The MRSN future programme includes retreats on 13-15 June2003 at Godalming, Surrey, and on 7-9 October 2003 atMinisteracres, Co Durham. There are workshops on 4 October2003 at Muswell Hill, London, and on 10-12 November 2003 nearDerby. Further details from
