New posts created to develop COP26 campaign

The Methodist Church has created new posts to help launch a climate justice campaign ahead of COP26 that takes place in Glasgow in November. Two posts will be open to young Methodists from Britain and Ireland and four from partner churches in Europe, Latin America and the Caribbean, Africa and Asia/Pacific.

The young Methodist campaign workers will represent Methodists around the world and will develop a vision, branding and strategy for a high-impact youth-led campaign that encourages all Methodist people and churches to engage more deeply with climate justice.

Rachel Lampard, Joint Public Issues Team Leader, said: “We hope that the campaign will amplify the prophetic voice ofyoung people, while engaging with and appealing to a diverse audience.

“These roles offer an exciting opportunity for young people to shape our response to COP26 and to make lasting connections with partners from NGOs to international Christian networks.”

The Revd Conrad Hicks, Director of Global Relationships for the Methodist Church in Britain, said:  “In the midst of deep global concern about the impact of climate change, young people from across the world are among the key leaders calling for climate justice.

“This Methodist initiative, drawing together young adults from different countries, is a hugely exciting initiative to model partnership, release gifts and throw our support behind those prophetic voices advocating urgent and radical change.”
