Response to attacks on Mosques

The Vice-President of the Methodist Conference, Mr Mike King, has expressed solidarity with the Muslim community in light ofreprisal attacks on Islamic buildings following the horrific murderof the British soldier Lee Rigby in Woolwich.

Mike King, Vice-President of the Methodist Conference, said:"Methodists that I have met throughout the country in recent daysare shocked by what happened in Woolwich to Lee Rigby, but alsosaddened by apparent reprisal attacks on Islamic buildings, orverbal abuse against individuals. With peace and respect at thevery heart of the Christian and Muslim faiths, all such attackscannot be justified in any circumstances. Prayers in churches thatI have attended have reflected this in the last few weeks and it isimportant for Muslims, both in UK and globally, to know that suchprayers are being offered in our Methodist churches."
