Superheroes changing the world - Cullercoats Methodist Church, Tyne and Wear

Cullercoats Methodist Church had some exciting visitors at its
annual Summer Special Holiday Club.

The club was called ‘Superheroes Academy’ and was attended
by 115 children and young people and 40 helpers all dressed as superheroes.

The stage set featured a cityscape background, a Harry Potter wardrobe where trainee superheroes could face their fears, and
the Tardis from Doctor Who. Through songs, Bible stories, crafts, challenges, fun and lots of mess, everyone learnt together that the super skills of generosity, bravery, trust, kindness and truth telling
can indeed help to change the world.

Holiday Club member Sue Carr said: “Holiday Clubs are run by many Methodist Churches across the Connexion. They often draw on families from their Messy Church community and other church groups. They are primarily seen as a ‘seed-sowing’ form of outreach and evangelism; very much broadcasting. The challenge is to follow this up and deepen the relationships formed in the clubs.”
