The Earth is a gift from God. We are part of the Earth too, lovingly woven from the same fabric.
Engaging in environmental stewardship deepens spiritual growth by connecting faith with God's creation.
A church that actively cares for the planet has a strong missional presence, as environmental action is an urgent global concern.
Many outside the church are passionate about sustainability, and when they see a church taking creation care seriously, it can lead to numerical growth as they explore a faith that aligns with their values.
Action ideas
Do what is needed to receive the Eco Church Bronze award, or at least have an eco-survey done on the church buildings.
Organise a plant sale or plant swap with home-grown plants.
If you have outside space, use it in ways that increase biodiversity.
Get better with waste and recycling.
Hold a climate service.
Get involved in a community garden.
Take action to help all of creation to flourish. For example, work out the carbon footprint of your church and talk with other people about how you might reduce it.
