We notice God in Scripture, and the world.
God is near, and findable. But not completely.
Choosing to action to develop your church’s ability to notice God will hopefully help you to grow spiritually. It can also lead to numerical growth; we want people to fall in love with Jesus and decide to follow as disciples, and one way to do this is by encountering God by reading the Bible. It helps to do this in a community, with conversations to help unpack the goodness. A ‘notice’ action can also lead to missional growth. As we become increasingly aware of God’s presence in Scripture and the world, we can increasingly share God’s passion for justice.
Action ideas
- Run Bible Month each year.
- Use audio/video versions of the Bible in worship, rather than reading aloud.
- Regularly ask “Where have you noticed God this week?”
- Run the Sunshine and Showers: Bible course
- In worship, commit to applying the text to real life.
- Set up a Bible Journalling group.
- Find ways to notice God together in poetry and art.
- Set up walking groups to notice God in the world.
- Set up or improve small groups.
