Regular prayer builds spiritual growth, deepening our love and trust in God. A praying church has a missional impact as it becomes a place of intercession for the community and the world, offering prayer for those in need. Numerical growth may also follow when we make easy entry points for people who have their own spiritual practices.
Action ideas
- Run the Sunshine and Showers: Prayer course
- Encourage reflection through journalling, use MWOL stickers.
- Set up a prayer chain. Remember confidentiality!
- Start a WhatsApp group for prayer requests. A heart reply is a prayer.
- Experiment with a daily time of prayer. Try different time slots, and a range of activities. The Digital Prayer Hub, Methodist Prayer Handbook or Lectio 365 app are great ways to prompt your prayers and know you’re praying in community with others.
- Explore creative ways to pray with all ages, using the Methodist prayer cards, available as a printed pack for meetings and events, a PowerPoint for church services and meetings or as a PDF for digital use.
