We worship with others regularly.

God wants to refresh you. Worshipping with others helps to knit us into a faith community.

Worshipping people

Developing quality worship may lead to spiritual, missional, and numerical growth by deepening faith, inspiring action, and attracting others.

Spiritually, engaging worship—through music, preaching, and prayer—draws people into a deeper encounter with God.

Missionally, worship shapes disciples who live out their faith, responding to themes of justice, compassion, and service.

Numerically, a church with joyful, authentic, and welcoming worship naturally attracts visitors and encourages them to stay.

When worship is spiritually rich and relevant, it transforms lives, strengthens the church’s witness, and builds a growing community where people encounter God and are sent out to make a difference.

Action ideas

  • Run the Sunshine and Showers: Worship course (coming soon)
  • Aim for celebratory worship: joyful, thankful, with testimony, pace, good music, quiet periods, singing and movement.
  • Increase participation in worship: many people leading services, everyone engaged.
  • Foster a healthy attitude to worship: expectant, open-minded, appreciative.
  • Think of ways that your church worship could be made more inclusive for people who don't currently attend.
  • Are you a preacher? Check out the Politics in the Pulpit podcast, a lectionary-based weekly preaching resource, reflecting on preaching and justice.
