Software and Resources

Here are some suggested external resources that help with creating designs, graphics, or branding for your church

Graphic Design Platforms (free)

Canva – a free online simplified graphic-design tool. It uses a drag-and-drop format and provides access to photographs, vector images, graphics, and fonts. It is used by non-designers as well as professionals. The tools can be used for both web and print media design and graphics. Highly recommended.

Vectr - great for creating 2D vector graphics, and a genuine free alternative to Adobe Illustrator. Less of an all-round package than Canva.

Pixlr - a powerful online photo editor that's quick and easy, and a genuine free alternative to Adobe Photoshop. Less of an all-round package than Canva.

Graphic Design Platforms (paid)

Church Comms Create, by CPO - a paid desktop design platform for church communicators and Christian creatives in the UK provided by CPO (Christian Publishing and Outreach).

Adobe Illustrator - a vector graphics editor and design program developed and marketed by Adobe Inc. The reigning vector champion: if cost and skill are no issue, then Illustrator is the best graphic design software for creating artwork, logos, icons, or any other visual design that needs to scale to all sizes without sacrificing quality. (Can be purchased with other Adobe products with Creative Cloud)

Adobe Photoshop - The industry standard image editor: It's the best graphic design software for image editing, with a massive suite of powerful tools making it suitable for everything from drawing and painting through to retouching photography, and it's packed with features to make creative's lives easier. Just as with Illustrator, there is a significant cost and some skill is needed. (Can be purchased with other Adobe products with Creative Cloud)

Adobe InDesign - the industry-leading layout and page design software for print and digital media. Whereas Illustrator focuses on graphics and Photoshop on image editing, InDesign makes it easy to design publications, magazines, documents etc. (Can be purchased with other Adobe products with Creative Cloud)
