ONE Programme history

The ONE Programme started in 2009 as part of the Methodist Church's Youth Participation Strategy and, so far, it has involved around 100 young people, aged 16-23, as ONE Programme Participants (OPPs) - taking 'a year on' and making a difference in a variety of projects around the country. This original strand as of 2021 will be called ONE Programme: Leadership and will expand to reach more young adults in a wider age range.

In 2016 the ONE Programme: District model, developed by the former York & Hull District as ‘micro YPS’, was taken on by a number of new Districts (originally known as ONE Programme: Opportunity).

Also in 2016 ONE Programme: Teams was developed in partnership with Global Relationships' (then World Church Relationships) Encounter Together programme. This enabled young people to take part in a short-term trip to experience a different part of the world, a different way of life and different ways of expressing faith. Along with these overseas trip we are also developing some UK-based trips for young people, offering these experiences closer to home.
