Love This Calling : Methodist Membership

The calling of the Methodist Church is to respond to the gospel of God’s love in Christ and to live out our discipleship in worship and mission.

One way to commit to this is for you to become a member.

Methodist members are committed to joining together in service, worship, evangelism, learning and caring.

What do you think of this quote?

“Ultimately our vocation is to become ourselves in the thousand thousand variants we are” Fr Richard Rohr

Methodists come in all shapes and sizes, in a thousand thousand variants, and yet the shared calling of members of the Methodist Church in Britain is; to respond to the gospel of God’s love in Christ and to live out our discipleship in worship and mission.

  • What do you think church is for?
  • How would you like to be part of a church like that?

Methodist membership opens doors to the following ministries: Pastoral visitor, local preacher, steward, church council member, circuit meeting member, ordained minister.

If you would like to become a member of your local Methodist church, have a word with your Minister.

In this short clip, Dean talks movingly about why the parable of the prodigal son is significant to him and how it sums up him why he is a Methodist. If you are a Methodist member, consider; are there people in your church community who are not members? What can you do to encourage them to think about becoming members?
