2019 statistics collection: advance information

This information was sent to all Membership Secretaries, Chairs of District, District Administrators, Superintendents and Circuit Administrators on the above publishing date of this news article.

The statistics for mission site will open in mid-September.

The data collection follows the same format as it did in 2018 and only requires membership and attendance data to be filled in.

However, there is one major difference with regards to Local Ecumenical Partnerships (LEPs): where in previous years, joint or ecumenical members had NOT been counted as being part of the Methodist membership figure, they are now INCLUDED.

For example: If a Methodist-Anglican LEP has 25 Methodist members, 25 Anglican members, 25 joint Methodist-Anglican members and 25 ecumenical members, then the numbers that should be recorded are Total Membership 100, Methodist membership 75 [under the old counting system, the Methodist membership number would have been 25]. This change has been proposed to and accepted by Conference earlier this year.

Other changes relate to the non-annual i.e. the web profile data and include –

  • Web addresses: Church, circuit and district web addresses are now located within the Welcome tab; as a consequence, the circuit and district profile tabs have been removed.
  • Downloadable data: The spreadsheet generated from the Download Data link within the district and circuit office holders tabs will display all office holders within that particular district or circuit, not just those on district or circuit level itself.

On circuit level, a new tab called Digital Archive has been added. This will display basic information about former societies that have ceased to meet, become a class of another or merged to form a new church with one or more other societies. There are some gaps – and probably some inaccuracies – in the data we currently hold, so by sharing this with you, we hope to be able to improve the quality and usefulness of this information.

Please note that if you are based in a circuit that has merged with another, or are a minister who has moved stations, your online suite permissions will need to be updated manually. If you cannot add a user because they are already registered even though you can’t see them, or if you have any other difficulties, please get in touch.
