A 3Gen 365 Prayer

God, you have been with me
From the beginning of my life,
And now you are beside me
At this particular time.
You see, I’m going on a journey
I don’t know exactly where
But I’m listening really carefully
For your answer to this prayer.
I pray for all the gifts you give,
That are special just to me.
And I want to know how I can live
So that what you want will be.
So Holy God, pack your bags
And join us on our way
We travel all together,
With you beside us each and every day.
Amen

Looking at 1 Corinthians 12, this passage speaks about how we are all part of the body. As part of 3Gen 365, we want to focus on how we are all different people, with different skills but that we are all part of the Church and part of the Body of Christ.

Body of Christ

Holy God, thank you for our ears. Ears help us to listen to what other people are saying, and to hear what you are saying. Help me, Jesus, to listen to others, and to understand their point of view. Thank you for people who listen to us. Help me God to play my part.

Holy God, thank you for our hands. Hands help us to do things and make things. Help us to use our hands and take action on things you ask us to care about. Thank you for people who are taking action to build a better world, and thank you that you hold us in your hands. Help me God to play my part.

Holy God, thank you for our hearts. Hearts help us to love and care for each other and the world. Help us to open our hearts to those who are lonely, afraid or ill. Thank you for the people who love and care for us. We think especially of teachers, the emergency services, family and friends. Help me God to play my part.

Holy God, thank you for our feet. Feet help us to run, walk, jump and dance. Help us God to move towards you. Thank you that you walk beside us in everything that we do and that when we are unable to move, you will carry us. Help me God to play my part.

Holy God, thank you for our heads. Heads help us to think and to feel. Help us to think about others, and to think of new solutions to problems in our lives. Thank you for those who use their heads to help others. Help me God to play my part.

Holy God, thank you for our mouths. Mouths help us to speak to people. Help us to use kind words and to tell others about Jesus. Thank you for those who speak to us, and who speak out about important issues in our world. Help me God to play my part.

Holy God, thank you for our eyes. Eyes help us to see the world you have created and to watch over our friends and family. Help us to look after your creation and to watch out for people who need our help. Thank you for those who watch over us and thank you that we can see the beauty of the earth. Help me God to play my part.

We pray all of this to you Jesus

Amen

A prayer of thanks

Today is a really good day, God.
You’ve really blessed me,
and I want to say thank you.
Thank you for all the good things in my life,
and when things are not so good,
help me to remember
all the awesome stuff you’ve done in my life.
Amen

A prayer for others

Timeless Creator, we pray for the past, the present and the future.

Healing Creator, we pray for those who are bereaved and are grieving. May they know your comfort and peace. We pray for those who are unwell or lonely. Give us the strength to support them and the words to comfort them.

Powerful Creator, we pray for those who make the decisions for the future. May they do so with your wisdom, grace and strength. Keep them humble in their power and keep them grounded in their purpose.

Guiding Creator, we pray for Christians around the world. We pray that we might continue to faithfully follow where you, God, call us, and that we may recognize our unique role in doing your work.

Loving Creator, we pray for those who are victims of injustice. Like Jesus, may we reach out to the hungry, oppressed and marginalized. We pray for refugees, the persecuted, people who are experiencing food poverty, people who are homeless. May we be filled with your compassion and your righteous anger at the inequality in our world. Guide us, Holy God, to build your kingdom and right the wrongs of this earthly world.

My Creator fill me with your Holy Spirit in this moment.

Divine Creator, we give these prayers to you. Thank you, God, that you have heard us and hold our prayers in your loving hands.

We pray all of this in Jesus’ awesome name

Amen

When you're anxious

Heavenly Healer, you know what troubles my mind.
You know what burdens my heart.
Jesus, I give my worries to you.
I hand each of these things to you,
knowing that you now hold them.
Help me breathe and know your loving comfort.
Amen

When you're tired

“I’ll refresh tired bodies, I’ll restore tired souls.” (Jeremiah 31:25, The Message)

God, even though I’m exhausted and sleepy, thank you for being with me today.

Help me get some rest and be ready for whatever is coming next.

I know that you will refresh my tired body and restore my tired soul.

Amen

Exam results

Thank you, God, that you are with me in my joy, and in my sorrow. Thank you, God, that you are with me when things are scary and uncertain. Thank you, God, that you are with me on every step of my journey, whether the path I take is clear, or whether the path takes me into the unknown.

Holy God thank you that I have been able to go to school. I pray for those who are unable to access education. Thank you for teachers who have worked so hard this year, and every year, to help students. I pray for teachers and students who returned to education this autumn.

Heavenly creator, you made me in Your image. You made me with love. You made me to be me, nobody else. Help me to remember that You love me, no matter what. Help me to remember that in your eyes, I am worth more than grades on a piece of paper.

Help me to remember your words:

“…do not fear, for I am with you, do not be afraid, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my victorious right hand.” (Isaiah 41:10, NRSV)

I pray this in Jesus’ name

Amen

A prayer for creation

Perfect Creator, we pray for the environment. We pray for all the creatures you made so perfectly and who share our home.

Give us the knowledge and the skills to be good stewards of your creation, so that we can protect its beauty and resources for generations to come. Help me to do my bit for looking after creation. I pray for governments and businesses that they may work to build an environment that is fair and clean.

Give us the understanding and knowledge to create solutions, for a better world.

Amen
