Volunteering

Welcome to our 3Generate volunteering page

Applications to volunteer at 3Generate are currently closed but if you are interested in being involved in the planning and delivery of 3Generate 2022, please email us.

We need to recruit around 250 volunteers to support the event, so we do hope that you will be able to volunteer. Volunteering at the 3Generate event can be an exciting and rewarding challenge; a chance to be part of a vibrant national event.

We always need stewards ( lots of stewards), as well as  venue teams, people to join the care team, night stewards, village hosts. There is something for everyone to do in order to support our children and young people at 3Generate, the children and youth assembly of the Methodist church.

What is 3Generate?

3Generate is the annual children and youth assembly of the Methodist Church in Britain. It exists primarily to hear what those attending have to say about a variety of subjects and issues. This action-packed and inspiring weekend is a milestone event in the spiritual lives of many children and young people and we recognise that it can only happen thanks to the support of so many committed volunteers.

Why volunteer?

Volunteering at 3Generate can be an exciting and rewarding challenge; a chance to be part of a vibrant national event. It is an opportunity to meet new people, develop new skills, have fun and try something different. Many people who volunteer come back year after year and get involved in different ways. Many of them speak of the positive impact that it has on their faith - maybe God is nudging you to join in and be involved?

You won’t be left on your own to do lots of work, but will be supported throughout and have the chance to work in areas that interest you. There are a whole range of ways of being involved, from more hands-on children’s and youth work, through to stewarding and admin support.

"Going to 3Generate is like having an energy boost! To see so many Methodist young people in one place is just amazing."

Volunteer roles

Volunteer teams consist of three main categories:

  • Venue/programme teams who work within each of the venues to help children and young people engage with the 3Generate programme.
  • Care teams who are focused on supporting participants and sometimes their leaders.
  • Operational teams that include customer service roles such as reception and also practical roles such as set-up and take-down.

Volunteering pack

We will be adding to the volunteer pack in the coming months.

Safer Recruitment

As our volunteers are working at an event for children and young people, everyone is subject to our comprehensive Safer Recruitment process. Usually volunteers will be from the Methodist Church in Britain.

The process involves two references (including one from your Methodist minister) and you will need a Methodist UK DBS check that is less than five years old. Volunteers from other denominations will need a reference from their own minister but will need to obtain a Methodist DBS. If you are not in contact with your own local Methodist Church we can help you to obtain a new Methodist DBS. Contact 3Genvols@methodistchurch.org.uk
