A great way of regulating emotions is to spend time in quiet prayer or meditation. Finding creative ways of sharing your worries and joys with God (through reflective writing or art for instance) can also help us to feel better.
Here are some ideas to help you and your children and young people get started:
- The Student Christian Movement has some great prayer and liturgy ideas on offer, including this blog post on Resources for worried people.
- Prayer Spaces in Schools is also a good source of creative ideas. You can browse a comprehensive list of ideas for praying about worry and fear. The Transition flags and the Weightlifting worry exercises are particularly helpful.
- As part of the recent Get Creative! competition, the Children, Youth and Family team created this list of Ten creative ways to listen to God and be inspired.
- This PowerPoint presentation was used at the recent Tune In for Leaders event and, due to popular demand is now available here to use with your children and young people. Unfortunately, due to copyright, we cannot offer this with the song embedded. The song used during the Tune In was Touch the Sky by Run51, available on Spotify.
