Community engagement through Christian festivals, 28th April, 7-8.30pm

Join the Evangelism and Growth Team as they reflect on the missional opportunities of high days and holidays throughout the liturgical year. National Rural Officer, Elizabeth Clark, offers creative ideas for community engagement through festivals which may be new to you. Mission and Community Engagement Officer, Emma Nash, asks how we might discern the festivals which present the best opportunities for engaging our own particular community. Leading your Church into Growth Methodist Conference
, weekend of 7th to 9th May

The Evangelism and Growth Team are collaborating with Leading your Church into Growth (LyCiG) to offer the first LyCiG conference specifically for Methodists. LyCiG is run by an ecumenical group of practitioners who seek to equip ordinary local churches to grow through regular training events and resources. If your church or circuit team are longing for growth and would like some support, we believe LyCiG can help you.  The sessions have been timed to enable as many people as possible, lay and ordained, to be able to participate. Conference sessions will take place on the Friday evening, Saturday morning and Sunday afternoon, and will include regular breaks. You can book places for your church or circuit team at the link above, or email the Evangelism and Growth Team for further details.

What if my call isn’t to be or do something IN church?

Thursday 13th May - 7:00-8:30pm

The call to church leadership is a wonderful thing, but what does calling mean for the rest of us? Does God call us to roles outside of church life? Can I be called if I shift from job to job, or if I don’t have a job at all? What about my family calling? Join us for an exploration of the call to follow Jesus wherever we are, no matter what we do – or don’t do! We will be joined by Alison Ransome who is leading the #lovethiscalling campaign.. Evangelism for leaders

This course is for leaders who really want to reach new people but also understand that evangelism is a word with baggage. It's for leaders who want to discover their inner evangelists - and it's for those who'd rather they remained undiscovered! It's for leaders who are thinking: 'evangelism was never part of my training for ministry' or 'if I mention evangelism in my place, everyone will run a mile and never come back'. It's for leaders who are wondering how to help others grow in confidence in their faith. It's for leaders who know they have a responsibility when it comes to evangelism, but are busy people trying to keep the show on the road. It's for leaders who are questioning whether evangelism is possible in a holistic, inclusive, relational and authentic way.

This is a free course for all leaders in the Methodist Church (lay and ordained, paid and unpaid, including but not exclusive to Chairs, Superintendents, Presbyters, Deacons, Local Lay Pastors, Pioneers, Children, Youth and/or Family Workers, Chaplains, Church or Circuit Stewards, or leaders of mission, social action or outreach projects). The course will run four times a year online. Dates for 2021 and registration details are available here

If you have any questions please contact Holly Adams, Evangelism and Contemporary Culture Officer.
