How to run a virtual prayer room, 22nd March, 7-8.30pm

A virtual prayer room provides the excitement of Christians praying together in community, without having to leave your own homes. It’s a great way to get involved with Thy Kingdom Come this year, at a church, circuit or district level. We are delighted to be joined by Brian Heasley of 24-7 Prayer, who will talk about the logistics of running a virtual prayer room and provide some top tips for encouraging people to take part. The evening will also include an opportunity to experience an online prayer room; to pray, reflect and spend time with God.

Green Evangelism: what does climate justice have to do with sharing our faith, Thursday 25th March, 7-8.30pm

Have you signed up to this webinar yet? Don't miss this, it's going to be a challenging, inspiring and powerful event. We know as Christians we're called to care for creation, but what if our mission and evangelism were more connected to climate justice than we thought? Can we do one without the other? In what way does our commitment to God's earth enable and empower our mission? Join Elaine Heath, theologian and author in the United Methodist Church, Jack Wakefield, a Campaigner at Tearfund,  and Phoebe Parkin, Methodist Youth President, in these discussions.

Community engagement beyond lockdown: What is God asking of us now? Wednesday 14th April, 7-8.30pm

It's been a very tough year: we've been through a lot, and so have our communities. Our churches may well look very different than they did in 2019, and our communities' needs may well have changed. Join Mission and Community Engagement Officer, Emma Nash, in conversation with others who are responding to God's call in a variety of ways. You will hear of fresh mission opportunities, pick up ideas and resources and, most importantly, you'll find a space to ask yourself: what one thing is God asking of our church now?

Ideas Exchange for anybody involved in ministry with 11-25 year olds. Thursday 15th April, 10.30-12.00.

This gathering for Youth Workers, and others involved in ministry with young people, will be a chance to share challenges and reflections, resources and ideas. Members of both the E&G team and the Children, Youth and Families Team will also be present to share initiatives and suggestions. The gathering will use the four areas of ‘Our Calling’ to look at ideas for worship, learning and caring, service, and evangelism with young people. The time will be interactive, with a chance for conversation, sharing and some activities.

Leading your Church into Growth Methodist Conference
, weekend of 7th to 9th May

The Evangelism and Growth Team are collaborating with Leading your Church into Growth (LyCiG) to offer the first LyCiG conference specifically for Methodists. LyCiG is run by an ecumenical group of practitioners who seek to equip ordinary local churches to grow through regular training events and resources. If your church or circuit team are longing for growth and would like some support, we believe LyCiG can help you.  The sessions have been timed to enable as many people as possible, lay and ordained, to be able to participate. Conference sessions will take place on the Friday evening, Saturday morning and Sunday afternoon, and will include regular breaks. You can book places for your church or circuit team at the link above, or email the Evangelism and Growth Team for further details.

Implementing a Methodist Way of Life, 19th May, 1.30-3pm

The Methodist Way of Life was launched in May 2020, with a series of Methodist Way of Life resources published in the current Connexional year. Many churches, circuits and districts have already begun to engage with the practices and commitments of A Methodist Way of Life and have found them life-giving for mission and ministry. Whether you are well on the way or have still to begin you will benefit from this webinar: learn what others are doing and share your experiences of engaging with a Methodist Way of Life with them.

Evangelism for leaders

This course is for leaders who really want to reach new people but also understand that evangelism is a word with baggage. It's for leaders who want to discover their inner evangelists - and it's for those who'd rather they remained undiscovered! It's for leaders who are thinking: 'evangelism was never part of my training for ministry' or 'if I mention evangelism in my place, everyone will run a mile and never come back'. It's for leaders who are wondering how to help others grow in confidence in their faith. It's for leaders who know they have a responsibility when it comes to evangelism, but are busy people trying to keep the show on the road. It's for leaders who are questioning whether evangelism is possible in a holistic, inclusive, relational and authentic way.

This is a free course for all leaders in the Methodist Church (lay and ordained, paid and unpaid, including but not exclusive to Chairs, Superintendents, Presbyters, Deacons, Local Lay Pastors, Pioneers, Children, Youth and/or Family Workers, Chaplains, Church or Circuit Stewards, or leaders of mission, social action or outreach projects). The course will run four times a year online. Dates for 2021 and registration details are available here

If you have any questions please contact Holly Adams, Evangelism and Contemporary Culture Officer.
