Attend Leading Your Church into Growth training

The Evangelism and Growth Team is developing an exciting partnership with Leading your Church into Growth (LyCiG). LyCiG is run by an ecumenical group of practitioners who seek to equip ordinary local churches to grow through regular training events and resources. If your church or circuit team are longing for growth and would like some support, we believe LyCiG can help you. Here is a brief video introduction:

A variety of understandings and theologies of church growth are welcome. You may be longing to see more unaffiliated people engaging with your online worship; more people in the wider community in relationship with your church; more people receiving relief from poverty and isolation; more people hearing of the love of Jesus for the first time; more people becoming committed members of Methodist churches. All of these are valid and healthy expressions of church growth.

The E&G Team and LyCiG are collaborating on an online training conference from Friday 7th to Sunday 9th May 2021. The sessions have been timed to enable as many people as possible, lay and ordained, to be able to participate. Conference sessions will take place on the Friday evening, Saturday morning and Sunday afternoon, and will include regular breaks.

Book places on the conference for your circuit or church team

To help you decide, here is a taster of the LyCiG material. In this short video,  Robin and Harry introduce LyCiG's 'seven steps', on which the training is based:

Still have questions? In this 25-minute video, Robin, Harry and Ash from the LyCiG team answer questions put to them by Methodists at an Evangelism and Growth Team webinar which took place on 28th January 2021:

The online conference costs £45 per person, which includes a course handbook to be posted to each participant. There are a limited number of subsidised places available for teams from circuits or larger churches. Contact the E&G Team to apply for up to five free places. You can either book straight away and then apply for a refund on the ticket price, or else wait to hear the outcome of your application, if cost is an issue.

LyCiG also holds regular residential conferences as well as offering a range of other resources to help local churches grow. Once your team has attended a conference, you can use LYCiG Local to help your circuit leadership team, church councils and local congregations to get excited about the possibility of church growth and to start planning for it. There are also various other courses, conferences and resources which may suit your local context.
