NPNP Hubs and Webinars

Hubs


If you are doing, starting, thinking or praying about New Places for New People (NPNP) join us for one of our NPNP Hubs. They are open to everyone, be it individuals sensing a call to pioneer or circuit leaders who want new Christian communities to become part of their mission planning. You will hear from pioneer projects and from the Evangelism and Growth Team about the support that is there for you. And more importantly, our hope is that by joining us, you will know how you can become a part of the NPNP movement.

Who are they for?

In short, NPNP Hubs are open to everyone. Those with prior experience of beginning something new and those who know nothing at all about NPNP. Hubs are particularly useful for circuit leaders exploring how to enable a new Christian community to begin in their context and those who sense a call to pioneer them.

What happens at an NPNP Hub?

Hubs are online gatherings lasting around 90 minutes. In that time, there will be stories from pioneers and projects around the Methodist Church, sharing how they started as well as top tips from their wisdom and experience. The Methodist Church’s vision for an NPNP in every circuit and the support to realise it will be shared. If you are called to pioneer, you will find out how to join the Methodist Pioneering Pathways and all that is offered to those starting new communities. And perhaps best of all there is the chance to connect with diverse people across the church who are asking the same questions as you. 23 January 2024, 13.30 to 15.00, Pioneering and intergenerational ministry

Led by Gail Adcock from the Children, Youth and Families Team. In this session Gail wants to share her thoughts on pioneering in intergenerational context but also hear from us as pioneers to help her shape her thinking for the whole church.

27 February 2024, 13.30 to 15.00, Revive Us Again

Rediscovering the Methodist founding story led by Leslie Newton. Leslie is a significant and strategic leader who has a deep desire to see pioneers flourish and be supported. He is the Chair of the Yorkshire North and East District and NPNP Guiding Team. He was instrumental in setting up the pioneering circuit Kairos and in this session he will explore the thinking in his recently published book. Revive Us Again is an invitation to be inspired by Wesley’s message and methods and see how, by reclaiming these treasures, Methodism and the wider church may once again transform society. Superintendents and NPNP

A series of webinars exploring the role of Superintendent Ministers in NPNP, led by Superintendent Ministers who will share their experiences, head scratches, mistakes, and learning from the projects they have begun and helped become sustainable in their context.

11 January 2024, 10.00 to 12.00 Superintendents and new Christian communities amongst economically marginalised people

Come and hear how we can discern a vision and support new Christian communities in low-income communities. We will be joined by Eunice Attwood, Church at the Margins Officer, and Rev Neil Johnson.

Neil Johnson is Pioneer Minister of Street Banquet, Birmingham Methodist District's Church at the Margins community based in Birmingham city centre. During just over 30 years of presbyteral ministry, Neil has served in post-industrial, outer estate, inner city, and city centre contexts. He is committed to working in solidarity with marginalised communities, including people experiencing homelessness and those seeking sanctuary in our society.
