One Opportunity (formerly MicroYPS), York and Hull District
This project was conceived following the disappointment of not being selected as a host district for a One Programme Participant. The aim was to scale down the opportunities to enable many young people, and many circuits, to engage with the basic ideas of the OPP. Each young person develops a project within their local context and is paid a salary for 3 hours per week. Alongside this activity, support, encouragement and personal development are offered in the form of project enablers, mentors, and three fully funded residential weekends over the year. From its conception in 2012, the scheme has developed with over 47 young people, 20 churches from 9 circuits taking part over the last five years.
