Vacancy with Global Relationships: Africa Partnership Coordinator

The Methodist Church in Britain is seeking to recruit a Partnership Co-ordinator for Africa. This role offers the opportunity for the successful applicant to use their skills in the development of the Methodist Church in Britain’s relationships with Partners across many different nations and cultures.

We are looking for someone who can relate respectfully to leaders of our Partner Churches and Organisations. The successful candidate will be a collaborative and professional member of the Global Relationships team as it fulfils its strategy in response to Our Calling by enabling the Methodist Church in Britain to have fruitful partnerships with sister churches across Africa.

The role requires deep sensitivity to cultural and theological diversity and to social and political issues, as well as the ability to manage conflicting ideas and build relationships with those who hold contradictory convictions.

The successful candidate will both be a representative of the Methodist Church in Britain, and an advocate for our Partners in Africa, being able to represent the Methodist Church in Britain with integrity whilst developing strong relationships between the Methodist Church in Britain and its Partners who may disagree profoundly with recent decisions made by the British Methodist Conference. They will also line manage all Mission Partners in the region and be responsible for initiating, developing and advising on grant applications. The successful candidate will bring a knowledge of the region and experience of living or working overseas.

We particularly welcome applications from candidates who in Britain would be minority ethnic, as they are currently under-represented within the organisation.
