Become a Mission Partner

Called to Serve as a Mission Partner?

Whilst our Partner Churches value the sharing of human resources, a physical presence shows a level of solidarity which cannot be demonstrated in any other way. A willingness to become a stranger, the resident alien, for Christ's sake is an important witness in God's mission in the world.  Read more information here

Serving as a Mission Partner is a significant step.  It is recommended that you pray, think and discuss it as an option with family, friends and minister. Read the Mission Partner Person Profile. If you feel that God may be leading you in this direction, complete and send back the initial application form. You may then be invited for interviews and asked to complete a set of Christian discipleship questions, along with providing statements of support and references. This is a process of discernment of your calling as a Methodist Mission Partner for yourself and for the Methodist Church.  If recommended for overseas service, you will have a period of initial preparation at a mission partner training centre.

More detail on the principles and process of becoming a Mission Partner can be found in the Mission Partner Application Framework Process document

There are two different forms according to whether someone is lay or ordained - the links for these are below:

• Lay Application Form
• Presbyters & Deacons form

If you are a partner of a Mission Partner applicant and you wish to serve in mission but not as a Mission Partner, then you can apply as an Accompanying Volunteer.  This post is voluntary and you will be supported by the Global Relationships team as you also serve the church.  If you feel that God may be leading you in this direction then do pray, discuss and consider this carefully.  Read the Accompanying Volunteer Person Profile.  If you wish to apply for this post, complete and return the Accompanying Volunteer application form (coming soon).  You may then be invited to attend interviews mirroring the Mission Partner discernment process which is for you and for the church.  Some of the interviews you will attend individually and some alongside your partner.
