World Methodist Council

What if there was an organisation that could inspire 80 million people from different countries and cultures around the world to share a common faith heritage, promote peace and understanding, and work for equal rights and social justice for all peoples?

The Vision

The World Methodist Council is an association of the Churches in the Methodist tradition throughout the world, including the Methodist Church of Great Britain.

It encompasses 80 member churches on six continents, all sharing a common vision of spreading the Gospel and making disciples of Christ for the transformation of the world.

Dialogues with other Churches

The Council's
Ecumenical Relationships Committee is engaged in ecumenical dialogue with the  Roman Catholic Church, the Anglican Communion, the World Communion of Reformed Churches and the Lutheran World Federation. It is also working towards dialogues with the Orthodox Churches and with the Pentecostal Churches.

'Achieving the Vision' Campaign

If every member of the World Methodist Council's member churches gave 20 pence we would reach our goal of establishing a £16 million endowment to provide a permanent source of funding for our global ministries. However we recognise that in some countries even 20 pence per member is a lot to ask, so we are encouraging Methodists in Britain to be extra generous and give 50 pence each year, for the next five years, to help those where Methodism is strong but the national economies are weak.

Give to achieve the vision

The £16 million goal is achievable if every member of the World Methodist Council's member churches plays their part. You can help by making a gift to the World Methodist Council through your local church or by clicking here
