Background
This passage requires little comment. It concludes the first part of the letter to the Ephesians before we turn in chapter 4 to advice for the readers and their churches. It was of course written in a patriarchal age when the male was assumed to be the head of every family. We can make adjustments in our minds for the very different assumptions that are widespread (but not universal) today.
Notice that in verse 17 faith and love go together. All is grounded in the love of God expressed in Christ.

- If every human family is a reflection of God’s parenthood, what values does that suggest for modern family life?
- In verse 19 what do you think is meant by being "filled with all the fullness of God’?
